You are the person that loves the beauty of code. You are the – for the outside world – underappreciated (but by JOHAN Sports highly valuated) person that clients most of the time don’t even know is there, but who is actually making work what they love about the JOHAN applications.
Let’s assume there are some people who don’t have clue about what a Back-end Developer does. To them you can say that you are the translator making all the JOHAN applications communicate correctly with each other, providing the right insights for athletes and trainers to improve the physical performance.
You will be the coding genius who will build on the back-end of the JOHAN applications. You will port the functionalities from a legacy system on Python Django to the new Elixir Phoenix platform and build the new features following the software development roadmap in Elixir Phoenix as well. Working on a project base, you will take ownership in the projects assigned to you. Together with all developers you will test, fix, polish and optimize this back- end beauty.
Our current front-end consists of an Angular JS Single Page Application (SPA) (bundled in WebPack) which communicates with the back-end via a REST API and websockets (written in both Elixir Phoenix and Python Django). The back-end is being ported to Elixir Phoenix, and our front-end is being ported to ReactJS. CI and CD is managed through Terraform and CircleCI and our machines run at AWS. You’ll work with Github to manage the workload and work through pull requests from feature branches.
You will work with and report to Dmitry, a Senior Back-end Developer and in the lead of the software development team. Hidde, Head of Technology is a multi-purpose kind of guy that handles technical operations, support and also represents the function of a product manager. Denis, Fullstack Developer is skilled on both back-end, front-end and has received the title of bug-fixing-genius. Danielle and Maaike, UI/UX designers & front-end developers are designing and building the views you envision. Then we’re also lucky to have Max on board as a freelancer, handling DevOps.
